Meet The Team
Sheila Stakim B.Sc. (Chiropractic)
Chiropractor
Sheila
had suffered several attacks of back pain over many years. One day a
friend recommended she consulted a chiropractor about it. She was so
delighted with the outcome that she decided to give up her job as a
medical laboratory scientist, and train to be a chiropractor herself.
She wanted to be able to help other people with similar problems.
Sheila graduated from Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in 1996 and went to work in a clinic in Portsmouth. She gained experience treating people from all walks of life. The doctors at the naval base referred many patients to her and she was pleased to be able to help keep our sailors fighting fit.
Five years later in 2001, she and her husband Tommy decided to open Emsworth Chiropractic Clinic. They run a family practice and Sheila is keen for parents to bring their children as well as themselves because she believes many joint problems may start in childhood but go undetected and untreated. By treating children, many of the problems adults experience can be prevented.
Tommy Stakim
Director
Tommy had his own decorating business and gave it up in 2001 to open Emsworth Chiropractic Clinic with his wife, Sheila. He is responsible for ensuring that the clinic runs smoothly on a daily basis. He also takes care of all the administration and accounts and generally looks after the needs of the chiropractors and the patients.
When he has a spare moment, he can be found at Chichester golf course. He plays off 10, which, apparently, is quite good.
Alison Stakim BMus (Hons)
Practice Manager
Alison gained a degree at Kingston University in 2007 and has now returned to Emsworth to join the family business. After being in the big city for three years, she decided she would prefer to be living on the beautiful south coast again. She loves meeting people and her role as the manager of the clinic allows her to do this every day. She is responsible for ensuring that your contact with us, either by phone or in person, is as pleasant and stress-free as possible.
She also enjoys playing her cello during her free time.
Elaine Abel
Holistic aromatherapist
Elaine originally qualified as a nurse and then went on to graduate from the Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy (ITHMA) in 1997. She completed further studies at the Bach centre, the Tisserand Institute and St. Wilfred's Hospice in Chichester. She offers individually tailored treatment in a calm and supportive environment. She specialises in aromatherapy, Bach flower remedies, and Reiki. Her treatments leave you feeling relaxed, peaceful and energised.
